about

I wrote an original version of this when I was a student at the University of Miami in 1971, but re-wrote the lyrics entirely in 2014. A Brian Wilson song, "Surf's Up", released during that time, mentions " a children's song" and since then have always wanted to capture something special for and about the children of the world, as well as recognize that we are all still children.

Musically, it is largely recognizable as a 5-part harmony piece. I worked hard on the vocal counterpoint and sincerely hope that this piece can be of some help to children advocacy groups around the world.

Take the time to listen to the A Capella version on CD2 as well.

lyrics

The sweetest music in the world still comes from children
So as they play it may it heal your heartstrings
May you feel the peace that only love brings
when a child sings to your heart

That sense of innocence will since forever bind us
to those memories full of smiles and kindness
Let's forever place those tears behind us
til the children sing again

so their broken hearts can mend
and know the past is all behind
The children will remind....

Think of the Children

A smiling face of innocence can be remembered
just as a tender melody is rendered
The gift is also given to the sender
as the gift is in the song

There is no right or wrong as long as kindness rules the heart
Love is never torn apart

As the Universe is forever expanding
and as 'the Grandness of Design's demanding
that there's room for all those souls still standing
That's the truth that's always been
And God speaks "Just Listen"
and "Think of the Children"

Think of the Children
