about

I wrote this song as an homage to the "Three brothers, a cousin and a real good friend, who were singing 'bout a summer that would never end",
and whose careers has had a profound effect on my life, as well as so many others.

I composed and played the sort-of 'honky tonk' piano solo that appears a couple of times in this arrangement on the demo version, but since David Floyd plays circles around me, it is his performance one hears on this track. David also produced this selection. On the double-CD release, one can hear the finished mix, and also a 'vocals only', as well as an ' instrumental ' backing track.

I recommend turning the volume up !! and listen to the "rockin' beat like thunder" !

lyrics

Fifty More Years !!

Three bothers, a cousin and a real good friend
were singin' 'bout a summer that would never end
when one bro' quit the road and wrote Pet Sounds
So Glen jumped in, then Bruce, so they could still get around.

They got around
and what a beautiful sound they made
when they would harmonize
how they would mesmerize us.
Dennis, Carl, Alan, Brian, Bruce and Mike (and David)

Dennis, Carl, Alan, Brian, Bruce and Mike
were coming up with harmonies
they'd hope we'd like.
They succeeded and repeated with hit after hit
from California, surfin' girls to just dit, dit.
Dit dit dit
Dit dit dit
Dit dit dit

They came along with surfin' songs for all to hear
then rev'd it up with hot rods so the chicks could cheer
Don't worry darlin', there's nothin' to fear
They'll keep us dreamin California more than fifty more years.

Well, there's a rockin' beat like thunder
to the roar of the crowd
Still gets the bodies swayin' as the fans go 'wow'
We can't believe it's happening
How could this be ?
Seems like we just got started
Now it's over fifty.

They got around
and what a beautiful sound they made
when they would harmonize
how they would mesmerize us
Dennis, Carl, Alan, Brian, Bruce and Mike (and David)
