This is one of three or four songs on the CD which has car imagery ('Back Seat Driver', 'Not So Fast', 'The Girl In The Rearview', 'Dennis,Carl, Alan,Brian, Bruce and Mike').

It sounds nothing like it, but the song was inspired by Brian Wilson's 'Wouldn't It Be Nice'?.....at least in my head. Ha ha

It's really about how a guy becomes aware of the value of what he previously thought was just a nagging 'back seat driver' girl friend, and how she really 'shows him the way', and that despite her 'navigating', she still lets him 'feel like the man at the wheel'. She can take him where he's never been before. The light from within her heart still shines light from her eyes so that the road 'opens up' with a smile.

The song has a couple of unusual turns, progression-wise, and the bridge goes 'all over the map', and yet still concludes in a convenient enough spot to lead back to the core of the song. The sound of the keyboard in this section reminds me of The Beatles, "Strawberry Fields Forever".

The song has a high melody, with even higher falsetto harmonies, but also leaves room for a low bass vocal.

This again is meant to be fun, and I think it achieves that goal.
